Results can always be done using only the RFID chips, and/or only the video recognition and/or reviewed manually using the video display. The New Chip Technology:
No more mats, no more zip tying chips to the bike, no more collecting chips at the end of an event. No more hassles! The small chips are easily attached to the racers’ helmets and are read as each racer passes under the finish line truss. The system uses small antennas attached to the underside of the finish line truss to read the chips, up to 500 racers per second. You get an accurate lap count, lap time, overall time, and race position, automatically, for each racer. When the race is over, the chips can be easily removed and pitched into the trash, since the chips are totally disposable.
Video Recognition:
Video recognition coupled with the RFID tag has the ability to select just the right moment in time allowing officials, and racers to see the desired finish of a particular race. No more searching the image looking for a rider, number, or team jersey. Simply type in the racer’s ID and the moment the racer crossed the finish line is displayed instantly. Even if the rider’s number is obscured by another rider, bad placement on the jersey, or even covered by a rain coat, it makes no difference. The system can locate the rider and display the image. Since only the important images are stored at the conclusion of the event computer memory used by the system is kept to a minimum.
